I've never been to the rally. My husband and I are thinking about going and we've relized it's very late in the game now for finding a hotel.
We are thinking about camping, but the only thing is, we don't want to haul around our crap. It will only be a little, but it will still be annoying to do so. It would really suck if someone swipped our sleeping bags while we were checking out a booth and what not...
so I was wondering. Does the rally offer equipment check in?
We wont be driving a car.. just our bike and their are no attached/locked saddle bags, just detachable ones that only zip.

Re: equipment check in? "coat check" type area?
Fri, June 10, 2005 - 9:51 AMThere are several campgrounds available. In general, everyone is pretty respectful of others peoples stuff. We don't camp since it is our backyard.
I don't know of any lockers are available but you would think they have this solved...
You might want to drop the rally committee a note and ask...

Re: equipment check in? "coat check" type area?
Sun, June 12, 2005 - 8:50 AMHi,
I do know that there are hundreds of thousands of people that attend. I do know that Bolato Park (the San Benito Fairgrounds) is where MANY people camp. Most of them are on bikes so there has to be a way that they handle their stuff so there are no worries, then they can ride basically naked down to the rally (5 miles?) with no baggage in tow.
I live in town and have been to the rally a couple times. From what I have seen from the people at Bolato that camp, there really arent a whole lot of "hoodlum" types flooding the area. Being from the ghetto in general, I know you always have to watch your back, and stuff... but around here, you just dont get that feel. I think you should be safe.
Hope that helps! Have fun at the Rally!
